Yesterday (Nov. 30), I almost tried to roast 300 g of green coffee beans in this 18 cm diameter sieve. æ¨æ¥(11/30)ã¯、ãã®ç´å¾18 cmã®ããã§çè±(ãã¾ã、ãªã¾ã¾ã)ã300 gçç ãããã¨æãã¾ãã。 I thought of ways to attach a wooden handle to the sieve and wrap aluminum foil around the sieve. I was unable to find good ways, so I decided to go to the second hand store again, hoping to find other cheap items suitable for coffee roasting. I bought this 19 cm diameter kettle for 380 yen. ãã®ããã«æ¨ã®åã£æãä»ãã¦、ã¢ã«ããã¤ã«ãããã®å¨ãã«è²¼ãæ¹æ³ãèããã®ã§ãã、ããè£æ¹æ³ãè¦ã¤ãããªãã®ã§、ã¾ããªãµã¤ã¯ã«ã·ã§ããã«è¡ã£ã¦、ã³ã¼ãã¼çç ã«é©ããä½ãå®ããã®ãæ¢ãã¾ãã。ãã®ç´å¾19 cmã®ãããã380åã§è²·ãã¾ãã。 I also bought this big enameled pot for 1,500 yen. ãã®å¤§ããªãã¼ãã¼éã1,500åã§è²·ãã¾ãã。 I liked this particular pot because it can be used as a steamer, too. ãã®ãããã¯è¸ãå¨ã¨ãã¦ã使ããã®ã§æ°ã«å ¥ãã¾ãã。 Besides, I fell in love with these cute bears at first sight. ããã«ãã®ãããããã¾ãããã¡ã«ä¸ç®ã¼ãããã®ã§。 That's another story. å¥ã®è©±ã§ãã。 This is another story, too. 次ã®ãå¥ã®è©±ã§ã。 Left: Coffee cup at a 7-11. I've been interested to know how good their coffees would be. Both coffees were much worse than I had expected, especially the 7-11 one. ä»å¹´、大æã³ã³ãããã§ã¼ã³ã¯ããªããã³ã¼ãã¼ãæé ãªå¤æ®µã§(ã»ãã³ã¤ã¬ãã³、ãã¼ã½ã³ã§ã¯ãããã100、180å)販売ããããã«ãªãã¾ãã。ã©ã®ãããç¾å³ããã®ãã©ããèå³ãããã¾ããã、ã©ã¡ããæå¾ ããã¯ãã£ã¨ã¾ããã£ãã§ã(ç¹ã«ã»ãã³ã¤ã¬ãã³ã®ã¯)。 Last night, my family had both Le Lectier and La France at the same time after supper. æ¨æ©ã¯å¤é£¯ã®å¾ã«ã«ãã§ã¯ãã§ã¨ã©ãã©ã³ã¹ãåæã«é£ã¹ã¾ãã。 Generally, le Lectier is considered much tastier than la France, but my daughter said she prefers the latter. ä¸è¬çã«ã«ã¬ã¯ãã§ã®ã»ããã©ãã©ã³ã¹ãããã£ã¨ç¾å³ããã¨æããã¦ãã¾ãã、å¨ã¯ã©ãã©ã³ã¹ã®ã»ãã好ãã ããã§ã。 Back to the main topic! æ¬é¡ã«æ»ãã¾ã! Today (Dec. 1), I tried to roast 315 g of Colombian coffee beans in the kettle shown above. But first, I "double roasted" 435 g of coffee beans I previously roasted. ä»æ¥(12/1)ã¯、çè±(ã³ãã³ãã¢)315 g、ä¸ã®ãããã§çç ãã¦ã¿ã¾ãã。ãã®åã«、以åçç ããè±ã435 g「ããã«ãã¼ã¹ã」ãã¾ãã。 Before: ããã©ã¼: After: ã¢ãã¿ã¼: I wanted to dark roast them so that they would be suitable for iced coffee (coffee jelly, to be more precise), but probably due to the heat capacity of the portable burner, the beans wouldn't get darker. After all, I roasted them for about 12 minutes. The weight loss was only 10 g. ã¢ã¤ã¹ã³ã¼ãã¼(æ£ç¢ºã«è¨ãã°ã³ã¼ãã¼ã¼ãªã¼)ã«åãããã«æ·±ç ããããã£ãã®ã§ãã、ã«ã»ããã³ã³ãã®ç±å®¹éã®ããã、è²ããã以ä¸æ¿ããªãã¾ããã§ãã。çµå±、12åç¨åº¦çç ãã¾ãã。éãã¯10 gæ¸ã£ãã ãã§ã。 Now, the main event of the day. ãã¦、ä»æ¥ã®ã¡ã¤ã³ã¤ãã³ã。 315 g of green beans: çè±315 g: Transferred to the kettle. ãããã«ç§»ãã¾ãã。 This is how I shook the kettle. ãããã¯ãããªãµãã«æ¯ãã¾ãã。 With the lid on and the spout open. èã¯ä»ãã¦、注ãå£ã¯éãã¦。 I occasionally checked the beans inside from the spout. æã 、注ãå£ããä¸ã®è±ããã§ãã¯ãã¾ãã。 Ten minutes later, I removed the lid, and started to shake the kettle again. 10åå¾、ãµããå¤ã、ã¾ãããããæ¯ãå§ãã¾ãã。 I roasted them for about 15.5 minutes. ç´15.5åçç ãã¾ãã。 They are now 265 g in weight, so the weight loss is remarkable: 15.9%. éãã¯265 gã«ãªã£ãã®ã§、æ¸ã£ãéã¯ãããã§ã。15.9%ã§ã。 Rather uneven roast, as you can see from the photo, but considering this is the very first try with a kettle, I think this was a success. åçãè¦ã¦åãããã、ç ããããããã¾ãã、ãããã使ã£ã¦ã®åãã¦ã®ææ¦ã¨ãã¦ã¯æåã ã¨æãã¾ã。 I may make some modifications to the kettle, like making holes at the bottom. Or, maybe I should remove the bottom and replace it with a net or something, as in this blog (Japanese only). ããããã¡ãã£ã¨æ¹é ããããç¥ãã¾ãã。åºã«ç©´ãéããã¨ã。ããã¨ã、ãã®ããã°ã®ããã«、åºãæãã¦、網ãä½ããå¼µãããã¨ãæãã¾ã。
